2012 HARD Day of the Dead Guide

On November 3, 2012 by Andrew

So as you may or may not have heard, HARD Day of the Dead is taking place in a couple hours at the LA State Historic Park in Downtown Los Angeles. Doors open at 5pm and will call is already open! I’ve had my ticket since August, and have been slowly counting down the days until now. If you’re still undecided as to who you want to see tonight, take a look at where I’ll be.

Clockwork  (Hard Stage, 6:00pm – 7:00pm)

Henry Steinway has been quite a name for himself recently, opening for Dillon Francis a while back, and releasing two massive songs in “Titan” and “BBBS”. His official remix also came out of Steve Aoki’s “Emergency” which is a crowd pleaser. It’ll be interesting to see how much of his RL Grime (his alias) songs he throws down.

Jack Beats (Hard Stage, 8:00pm – 9:00pm)

Plus One and Beni G make up the duo of Jack Beats, who are known for their funky electro sounds that isn’t like anything else out there. They recently did a collaboration with Dillon Francis that’s been successful since its release.

Zeds Dead (Hard Stage, 9:00pm – 10:00pm)

DC and Hooks definitely know how to get the crowd going. If their set is anything like their HARD Day of the Dead  Mixtape that they released for this event, people will go nuts. I know for sure that these guys will have a set that blow this crowd up.

Kill the Noise (Earstorm Stage, 10:15pm – 11:15pm)

Jake Stanczak has an album that’s due out next week called “Black Magic” that I can’t wait for. I’ve heard previews and snippets here and there, but nothing official yet. He’s done some tracks with a bunch of well known people, like Skrillex and Datsik, so be on the look out for some of those.

Knife Party (Earstorm Stage, 11:15pm – 12:45am)

Pretty much the main reason why I’m going. The first time I ever heard a song from Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, I just knew I had to see them live. They will hit you so hard and fast, you won’t even see it coming. I’m really excited to see them throw down a huge set.

Justice (Hard Stage, 12:20am-1:50am)

Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay’s song’s are hard for words to describe. I recently listened to their NJR Radio set and was blown away. I’ll just let their set do the talking.

I know I’m missing a lot of other great artists, so no need to rage on me. During some down time or in between sets, I’ll probably go and check out some of the “lesser known” artists and see what’s up.
