Bassjackers, Dyro, & Henrix – April 11 (Sutra, Costa Mesa) [Review and Photos]
I had high hopes for the Grid Tour that Bassjackers, Dyro, and Henrix were apart of as they stopped at Sutra in Costa Mesa. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t getting a good vibe from this show. Henrix started things off nicely but as his set continued, I felt like he went too much up and down, not giving the crowd enough time to react. Dyro went up next and I feel that he had the same problem, putting the crowd on too much of a roller coaster ride. Bassjackers was the last headliner that night and kind of had the opposite problem, as there was not enough down time between the peaks of the set.
One thing that pissed me off that night happened when I was was taking photos during Dyro’s set. Bassjackers had come into the VIP area behind the booth and was getting ready to go on. Marlon Flohr, the DJ of the duo, told me to move from my spot on the side of the stage so he could basically sit there and text. I’m giving you and your tour mates free publicity, and this is how you treat photographers? I didn’t really understand that, and a few minutes after that I left, as I was not really feeling the vibe of the whole night and was put off by the situation.
Nonetheless, I still got some photos of the night which you can check out below!
