Daniel Portman - Crusader EP

Swiss producer Daniel Portman gives us another reason to love his legendary minimal sound. Or rather, another four reasons. The four song EP called “Crusader” includes the title track, “Appaloosa”, “Knightess”, and “Into the Crusaders’ World”. The press release was pretty lengthy and intricate, so I decided to reword and shorten it a bit to get straight to the point of each tune. Here’s what it had to say about Portman’s newest release on Unreleased Digital.

“We’re kicking off the EP with the title track “Crusader” that uses heavy lifting beat sections which rise with full intention and continuously build up till the epic break down. “Appaloosa” takes a pumping minimal house direction, coming up with some wobbling bass lines, subtly chosen effect textures and a strong and low pitched kick drum. “Knightess” utilizes percussive melodies that are building the base of the track, while a stomping bass line kicks hard underneath the clubby beat elements. Vocal snippets and dark synth stabs support the unique vibe of the track. “Into the Crusader’s World” employs Arabian flutes, orchestral timbales and low toms which rise with cinematic intense. The track drops in a clubby but still dark rhythm section that lets nothing to be desired. Dirty electro synths, pumping half-time dubstep beats are illustrating the bloody battle.”
