Caspa ft. Diane Charlemagne - Reach For The Sky [Preview]

February 24 will see the release of Caspa’s new drum and bass track on Dub Police called “Reach For The Sky”, featuring the vocals of Diane Charlemagne. Although it’s not quite the Caspa dubstep type of tune that some might be used to hearing from the London based producer, he does a beautiful job blending the vocals of Charlemagne and his own beats to create a stunning piece of work.

If producing and DJing on a regular basis isn’t enough, Gary McCann also runs three record labels while finding the time to do remixes for people like deadmau5, Miike Snow, and Depeche Mode. Caspa is currently working on his “Dubstep Sessions 2014” compilation mix that will be released in March. With the release, he will be playing a bunch of shows around North America, so check back here to see when he swings by the Orange County area!

Here’s what the press release has to say about the track and the three remixes that will be included:

Featuring legendary soul singer Diane Charlemagne, who many will know as the voice of Goldie’s seminal track ‘Inner City Life’, ‘Reach For The Sky’ is a an ideal choice as the next single. Channeling rave’s break-driven sugar rush, the euphoric piano melodies perfectly compliment Charlemagne’s soaring vocals, while the tight drum and bass style edits and plunging bassline deliver a big soundsystem production.

Up first on remix duties, label stalwart The Others brings a darker edge to the track, suspending the vocals over lurching drums and heaving bassweight. Drum & bass innovator Break rarely does remixes, but jumped at the opportunity to get involved in this project, twisting the original and inserting intricate drum edits over a rolling rhythm, letting the vocals and melodies from the original set the tone before breaking out into a full on jungle brockout. Completing the package, upcoming talent RS4 delivers a stripped back and low-slung tech house mix utilizing the vocals to complement the funk-lined groove.

Check out the the original mix below, with The Others’ remix starting at 1:30, Break’s remix at 3:00, and RS4’s remix at 4:30!
