The Chainsmokers – #SELFIE (Botnek Remix)

By now, you’ve most likely heard The Chainsmoker’s “#SELFIE” pretty much everywhere. If you haven’t, you’re not even living under a rock; you’re living in Middle Earth or something. From various radio stations to department stores to gas stations, it seems as if everyone was getting a piece of the action. Shaking things up is the duo called Botnek, a pair of guys from Montreal who are quickly rising up the ranks due to their collaboration with Snails titled “KRMT” and their remix of Mat Zo and Porter Robinson’s “Easy“.

Botnek definitely injects their distinctive style into this track, which has been previously described as being similar to a woodchipper. After 20 minutes of personally trying to describe their sound, I have to say that Gordon Huntley and Erick Muse said it best. The guys list Jack Beats as one of their early influences, and after listening to some of their previous songs, they sound like them amped up on steroids…times 10. With the release on Dim Mak Records, the tune has been supported by label head Steve Aoki, Krewella, Zedd, Sander van Doorn, and Adventure Club, to name a few.
