Excision – Codename X (Album)

Before you listen to Excision’s new album “Codename X”, first grab some rope, have a friend tie you to your seat, and hold on for dear life. The highly regarded dubstep producer rains bass upon us with 11 tracks featuring some rather talented co-producers and vocalists. Back in November, we were presented with a track from the album called “Night Shine” with The Frim and Luciana that served as a preview to show what Jeff Abel has had in store for us all this time.

Released through his own record label, Rottun Recordings, the album features Dion Timmer, The Frim, Downlink, Space Laces, Pegboard Nerds, Splitbreed, Messinian, Mayor Apeshit, Luciana, and Rise At Night. A couple of my favorite tunes from “Codename X” include “Live Wire”, “X Up”, “Push It Up”, and “Bring The Madness”. Ranging from dubstep to glitch hop, and drum & bass to electro house, the album has a number of songs that will appeal to bass fans around the world.

You can catch Excision playing some, if not all, of these tunes this Saturday, February 7th at the Hollywood Palladium. You can check out the massive Executioner video and lighting installation along with 150,000 watts of ground shaking PK Sound. Also playing that night are noted West Coast bass producers Protohype and Minnesota.
