Caravan Palace – Robot (Album)
Earlier this year, noted electro swing artist Parov Stelar released his album “Demon Diaries“. Hot on his tracks is the famed French band Caravan Palace with their own album playfully titled “<I°_°I>”. The talented seven piece group consists of Arnaud Vial, Charles Delaporte, Hugues Payen, Toustou (aka Mighty Mezz), Colotis Zoé, Chapi, and Paul-Marie Barbier.
If you’re unfamiliar with electro swing or Caravan Palace, here’s some of my past favorites of theirs: “Dragons“; “Beatophone“; “Dramaphone“; “Jolie Coquine“. The band, along with Stelar, have been at the forefront of the electro swing genre for quite some time now.
Their third album consists of 11 tracks and was released from the New York based label Le Plan Recordings. “Lone Digger”, “Comics”, and “Midnight” are my top three from the Parisian group’s album. With it’s jazz influences, soulful vocals, and fresh take on swing music, I hope it’s a short amount of time before Caravan Palace hits it big in the US.
