Amtrac - 1987 EP

Amtrac has launched his new record label Openers with the release of his own “1987” EP. While many producers have taken to starting their own imprints, Caleb Cornett says that “I can work well with other producers, but A&Rs telling me that it needs to be different so they can sell it is not artistic to me. It takes away from the value of what I produce into my work. Starting my own label pretty much opened the door for complete creative control over everything, and no red tape. I can put out whatever I want, whenever I want.”

The four track set includes “Never Lost”, “Escape” featuring Forrest, “Piano Boy”, and “Informal Disco”. “Piano Boy” was premiered by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Selection show on February 10th. While the Los Angeles resident has previously released tracks on notable labels such as Toolroom Records, OWLSA/Big Beat, Cr2 Records, Ultra, Fool’s Gold Records, ARVA, and Axtone, I certainly can’t wait to hear more from his own label.
