It seems as if every song by Notaker is better than his last, with the statement ringing true more than ever in his new track “Retribution. The atmospheric song is a part of mau5trap’s “We Are Friends” Volume 7, which also includes tunes by ATTLAS, Grabbitz, Matt Lange, Moguai, and Monstergetdown. The progressive house track slowly builds up with layers of echoing synths and sweeping melodies, giving it a dark and ominous feel.
Here’s what David Nothaker has to say about the making of the track: “This song was a step in a different, darker direction for me and the first time I’ve ever implemented analog sounds into my production process. The feeling of the song makes me imagine someone planning revenge on someone for the injustices they’ve done to them, hence the name ‘Retribution’.”
