On February 7, 2018 by ocedm

Getting his 2018 started off on the right foot is Swiss DJ and producer Gil Glaze. His latest future house track called “Wild and Free” has been released from Dutch record label Armada Deep. The 23 year old artist has already played alongside the likes of Tiesto, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Diplo, Robin Schulz, Axwell Λ Ingrosso, and marshmello, and shoes no signs of slowing down this year.

Read on for an interview with Glaze about “Wild and Free”, the support he’s received from big name DJs, and what’s coming up for him in 2018!

Hello Gil, appreciate you taking the time to answer a few questions. Tell us how your 2017 went?

2017 was crazy for me! I did things I never would have imagined doing. I started off with a world tour, continued playing my residencies in the US, went on an Australian tour with The Chainsmokers, had remixes released on major labels… I’ve also had growing support from DJs whom I admire and respect. I even signed a deal with Armada Deep, which is my new single “Wild and Free”. All in all, it was a very fast-paced and productive year!

You have a seriously groovy track out now called “Wild and Free”. What was the thought process behind creating the song?

Since my past few releases have been a little on the deeper side and focused for radio, I wanted to create something sexy, groovy and funky for the clubs. I tested a couple versions out in the clubs and knew I was doing the right thing when it comes to this track. It’s good to switch things up!

What’s it like having “Wild and Free” played by noted DJs like David Guetta, Mike Williams, Lucas & Steve, Kryder, and EDX?

Wild!! When I produced this track I imagined it getting a little support, but to receive support like this during its first week is pretty crazy! I just played alongside David Guetta last week in Zurich and this is the first time I have one of my tracks on his radio show. It’s definitely big for me!

Why did you decide to release the song on Armada Deep?

I have always loved the music Armada puts out and I feel like house music had really been taking off in the Netherlands during the past few years. So it was always a goal of mine to release some music on Armada. I am really happy with how they work and how much amazing music they put out on a consistent basis.

What’s on the horizon for 2018?

Lots of amazing plans coming up! I just did a remix for Deepend that will be coming out soon. I’m focusing on expanding my international presence. In February alone, I’m heading to Johannesburg to play Ultra South Africa, to Amsterdam to play at an amazing club called Mad Fox, plus I’m opening up for the Chainsmokers during their “Memories Do Not Open” European Tour (Zurich date). That’s actually my hometown. I also have a lot more original music and remixes scheduled on the horizon for 2018. Things just aren’t slowing down at the moment but it’s a great ride.

Favorite Song of 2017: Camelphat & Elderbrook – “Cola”

Best track to play at peak time: Avicii – “Without You”

Unexpected remix to switch things up: Galantis – “Hunter” (Mike Williams Remix)

Vocalist you’d most like to work with: Kelly Rowland, Grace Davies, and Justin Jesso

Upcoming artist to watch for in 2018 Lanna, Whizkid, and Barkley

Thank you!
