Wilkinson & Sub Focus – Take It Up (Original Mix)

As much as I am a fan of drum and bass, it’s a shame I haven’t featured Wilkinson or Sub Focus on the site. It’s a good thing the two came together recently for a solid collaboration titled “Take It Up”. Mark Wilkinson is the man behind stompers like “Decompression“, “Sweet Lies” featuring Karen Harding, “Afterglow“, “Take You Higher“, and “Blender Bass“. Nick Douwma has created heaters like “Falling Down” featuring Kenzie May, “Out The Blue” featuring Alice Gold, “X-Ray“, a banging remix of “Hold On” by Rusko featuring Amber Coffman, “Rock It“, and “Timewarp“.

Here’s what Wilkinson has to say about the RAM Records release: “We actually started writing this record together randomly on the 24-hour flight back from New Zealand. Then when we got home in January, we jumped in the studio and finished the tune. We had to call it ‘Take It Up’ after that! Kinda mad, really.”

For Sub Focus, it’s another collaboration for him, as he says “I’ve been collaborating a lot more in the last couple of years than I did the past, especially a lot more with other producers. It’s really interesting for me to see other people’s creative processes and it feels a lot more vibey than working on your own all the time. I’ve even done a lot of stuff with friends who don’t produce as a way of getting back to the fun of the creative process.”
