Lastlings – No Time (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix)

On August 9, 2020 by ocedm

Remixes from RÜFÜS DU SOL might be few and far between, but when they do take on a track of another artist, it’s certainly worth paying attention to. Sydney natives Tyrone Lindqvist (vocals/guitar), Jon George (keyboard), and James Hunt (drums) have put their melodic spin on “No Time” by Lastlings, a fellow Australian group who are the brother and sister duo of Amy and Josh Dowdle from Gold Coast, Queensland.

The seasoned trio, who first started out in 2010 and are now based in Los Angeles, use mesmerizing synths, entrancing melodies, and Amy’s atmospheric vocals in their captivating version. The remix from the two time Grammy nominated group was released on Astralwerks and Rose Avenue Records, the latter of which was started by RÜFÜS DU SOL in 2018 and currently sees the likes of Lastlings, Cassian, and Colyn on its roster.

One of the first times RÜFÜS DU SOL played the song was during their set for ReConnect on Beatport Live near the end of March. Since then, their version has been supported by DJs such as Pete Tong, CID, Oliver Heldens, Gorgon City, Martin Garrix, Diplo, Grum, Mees Salomé, Gabriel & Dresden, R3hab, Dave Winnel, The Aston Shuffle, and Alison Wonderland.

In early March, RÜFÜS DU SOL recorded a live album and film called Live from Joshua Tree where they played songs from their three albums in “Atlas“, “Bloom“, and “Solace“. The film was directed by Alexander George (Jon’s brother), who also goes by the name Katzki.

The guys said that “We wanted to make something you can watch alone on your couch in the afternoon, or with a group of friends before you go out, something that also wouldn’t be out of place on a TV at someones house after the rave. Hopefully it lives in one of these worlds for you this weekend.”
