Deathpact – ID (Jean-Michel Jarre Remix)

On March 9, 2021 by ocedm

Since his start in the early 1970’s, the legendary French artist Jean-Michel Jarre has never remixed a song from another producer. For those of you keeping track at home, that’s a period of over 50 years where he has released over 20 albums of completely original music that have sold more than 85 million copies. A few days ago, that all changed when his version of “ID” by Deathpact was officially released (which is quite ironic considering the original mix of “ID” has yet to be put out itself).

The Grammy nominated producer has created a version of the tune that is hypnotic and mesmerizing with ominous synths, deep vocals, and industrial vibes throughout the track. “Deathpact is an absolute unique act with a singular sound,” says Jarre. “This ‘ID’ is a great schizophrenic track with different moods. This is what I tried to push in my Rework.”

The song was played last Friday on Dim Mak Studios 090 hosted by SiLVA, where it was chosen as the Dim Mak Pick Of The Week.

Jarre’s take follows in the footsteps of other “ID” remixes of various genres by REAPER, Claude VonStroke, Code Orange, CloZee, Biicla, Opiuo, and Deafheaven.

Born to noted film music composer Maurice Jarre (Lawrence Of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and Dead Poets Society), Lyon native Jean-Michel later studied under the renowned musicologist Pierre Schaeffer and began to develop his sound under these influences.

Jarre is not just an iconic producer, as he has also been at the forefront when it comes to live performances and the technology that goes into them. He was the first western musician ever to be invited to perform in post-Mao China in 1981, while performing at sites like the Eiffel Tower in 1995, the Great Pyramids in Egypt in 1999, and the Sahara Desert in 2006. His 1997 show in Moscow was attended by a Guinness World Record 3.5 million people, and his New Years Eve millennium concert in Egypt was the first concert ever to be streamed live on the internet in 1999.
