Skrillex, Starrah, & Four Tet – Butterflies (Original Mix)

On May 21, 2021 by ocedm

Skrillex has released an easy going and smooth tune called “Butterflies” with Starrah and Four Tet from his record label OWLSA, his first new music since 2019. See below for how Four Tet described the process in working with Skrillex and Starrah:

“The new Skrillex single called Butterflies just came out featuring me and Starrah. We made most of this track in February last year while I was in LA and then in the last few weeks we got the arrangement and mix right. It was finished only a few days ago and you can hear it now on spotify and apple and youtube etc etc. There is an extended version on beatport that I’m particularly happy with. Working with Sonny and seeing his cosmic level ableton skills in real time has been amazing and huge respect for how crazy good he got the mix sounding. So much detail went into this one. Feels so good to have it out there. Shout out to Skrillex and Starrah.”

Last week, Annie Mac selected the tune as the Hottest Record In The World on her Power Down Playlist radio show on BBC Radio 1 and also asked him a few questions about the song, his creative process, and a possible album in the works. Further support has come from Tiesto, Oliver Heldens, W&W, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Pete Tong, Diplo, CID, Gorgon City, Swanky Tunes, Madison Mars, Dave Dresden, Qrion, Party Favor, Alison Wonderland, Destructo, The Aston Shuffle,, NGHTMRE and SLANDER, and LP Giobbi.

Prior to this month, the last time we heard from eight time Grammy award winner Sonny Moore was with the release of “Midnight Hour” with Boys Noize and Ty Dolla $ign two years ago. The Los Angeles based also put out his “Show Tracks” EP which included “Fuji Opener” with Alvin Risk and “Mumbai Power” with Beam as well.

Originally from Delaware and now based in Los Angeles, Brittany Hazzard’s songwriting credits includes tunes by DJ Snake, Travis Scott, Cashmere Cat, Drake, The Weeknd, Big Sean, Calvin Harris, Halsey, Katy Perry, Major Lazer, Maroon 5, Madonna, and Beyoncé. In 2016, she collaborated with Destructo, Wax Motif, and Pusha T on “Catching Plays“.

London native Kieran Hebden has previously remixed tracks from the likes of Aphex Twin, Bicep, Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, J Dilla, Lana Del Rey, Sia, Black Sabbath, Jon Hopkins, Thom Yorke, and more. He has also played at festivals like DGTL LIB, Secret Project, Coachella, and Escape.
