REAPER – Militia EP

It looks like REAPER got the all caps crew together in SYN, REVEL, and HELLBOUND! for his new “Militia” EP. The masked artist includes “Levitate” with SYN, “Decay” with REVEL, and “Broken” with HELLBOUND! in the fast paced drum and bass set he released from Welcome Records, the Los Angeles based imprint launched by Kayzo in 2018.

REAPER played all three tunes in the most recent episode of his radio show The Pulse 005 on Insomniac Radio, along with other tracks from Teddy Killerz, A.M.C, Prolix, Delta Heavy and Koven, 1991, Pendulum and Hybrid Minds, Flava D, and more.

I’ve been a big fan of REAPER’s style since he first started out a few years ago, with a few favorites of mine being “Make A Move“, his remix of “Griztronics” by GRiZ featuring Subtronics, “Barricade“, “Shouldn’t” with WHIPPED CREAM (another all caps artist…I’m seeing a pattern here…), and his remix of “Valhalla” by RL Grime.

French DJ and producer SYN, whose real name is Max Folcolini and is now based in Montreal, has impressed me with his five track “New Rave Pt. 1” EP and his collaboration with Kayzo and Zero 9:36 on “Breakdown” from Kayzo’s “The Year The World Stood Still” EP

I first heard of Los Angeles based REVEL, also known as Carlos Serrano, back in 2019 when he remixed “Turn Off The Lights” by Skrillex and Boys Noize’s project Dog Blood. He is also creating a video game called SPRAWL, “a hardcore retro FPS set in an endless cyberpunk megapolis.”

HELLBOUND!, who is New Jersey native Vincent Tascione, has put out acid house and techno tunes like “Afterlife“, “You Don’t Know“, and a remix of “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay.
