WATEVA – Disposable Society (Album)
Estonian outfit WATEVA have released their debut album called “Disposable Society” from the Netherlands based Heroic Music Group. What is pretty cool about the mesmerizing and entrancing set from Tallinn natives Hugo Martin Maasikas and Kris Evan Säde is that it features eight collaborations with other artists from Estonia!
The 13 song album includes “Mckd Symphty”, “Disposable Society” with Manna (Maria Annabel Vainumäe), “Meds” with NOËP (Andres Kõpper), “Cold Fumes (In Mid-June)” with Karl Killing, “Marabú”, “Someone Better” with Emily J (Emily Jürgens), “Boiling Point”, and “Burn Out” with Asena (Asena Gedizli). Up next is Good “Intentions”, “Y.L.” featuring Daniel Levi (Daniel Viinalass), “Headlights” with STEFAN (Stefan Airapetjan), “So High”, and “Take Me” with Donkong (Thomas Küchler and Johannes Schlump).
About the title track, WATEVA say that “The track that gave the album its name and the concept. We wrote this at the end of 2019 with MANNA. While being in the studio we started talking about the climate and current state of affairs in the world as a whole. And decided we should write from a place we imagined ourselves in, 1000 years after everything has gone to waste. There would be no more countries, no more politics, no more power-hungry corporations, no more pollution. [The lyrics] “Walking through the meadow, it’s just plastic and some metal” is the memory of what used to be, when looking back from the future. [The lyrics] ‘’See the west coast breeze’’ is now coming back to the future. We stand where there used to be the Santa Monica Pier, but thanks to time passing and the earth healing itself, the coastline is completely covered in snow.”
