Young Bombs – Summer in Brooklyn ft. JORDY (Remix EP) + Interview with Bexxie

On October 28, 2021 by ocedm

The bouncy and upbeat “Summer in Brooklyn” by Young Bombs featuring JORDY was released a few months ago by Sony Music Canada. Now, Vancouver natives Tristan Norton and Martin Kottmeier enlist the productions skills of clavette, Bexxie, Ruhde, Sonickraft, and Kbubs for a diverse remix EP.

It was the fresh tech house version from North Carolina based Bexxie that initially caught my attention with it’s crisp percussion and groovy basslines. Read on for an interview with Rebecca Clements as she talks about how she would describe her sound in three animals, what she has coming up next, and artists to watch for in 2022!

Hey Bexxie, thanks for your time today! As we near the end of 2021, how has the year been for you?

Hey! Thanks for having me. Honestly, this year has been great musically! It really exceeded any expectations I had. I’ve been able to release music with some of my favorite labels, remix some of my favorite artists, and have also had support from some of the top DJs like David Guetta, Sam Feldt, and Mark Knight. It’s been an amazing year, and I’m looking forward to what 2022 brings!

How would you describe your sound in three animals, and why those animals?

1) A dog because they’re playful and fun, which is how I like to approach making music.

2) A bird because they can soar through the sky and I hope some of my music makes people feel weightless and like they’re being taken on a journey.

3) A cheetah because they’re fast and I like to make tracks that are driving and get people moving.

Your remix of “Summer In Brooklyn” by Young Bombs featuring JORDY has been released on Sony Music Canada. How did the opportunity come about to put your twist on the track?

Young Bombs’ team reached out. I was really excited and honored to remix it.

Other versions in the remix package include takes by clavette, Ruhde, Sonickraft, and Kbubs. Is there one that caught your immediate attention?

Everyone did an amazing job! But if I had to choose, clavette’s remix. I love disco house!

Anything coming up that you can share with us?

I have a debut release coming out on Anjunabeats that I’m really excited about, and another remix coming out before the end of the year.

Favorite song of 2021: Maur ft. Faber – Set You Free

Best track to play at peak time: Bexxie – Feel The Energy 🙂

Producer(s) and/or vocalist(s) you’d most like to work with: I would love to work with Calvin Harris under his Love Regenerator alias. I love that old school rave sound! As far as vocalists go, Alex Mills and Camden Cox are super talented.

Upcoming artist(s) to watch for in 2022: Too many talented artists to name, but here are a few that come to mind: Chapter & Verse, Bubs, Maui Sam, Domii, Heider, Guest Who, Average Citizens, Hugo Cantarra, and Amy Lauren.
