Dirt Monkey x Sully – King Kong (Original Mix)

On March 4, 2022 by ocedm

First appearing in sets since early 2020, “King Kong” by Dirt Monkey and Sully now finally sees the light of day on Wakaan. The two artists first met when they supported Liquid Stranger on his Ascension tour, with one of the stops being The Observatory in Santa Ana. Dirt Monkey and Sully will have you head banging from start to finish with plenty of wubs and wobbles and bleeps and bloops to go around!

“Sully and I wrote this lil number on Liquid Stranger’s tour in early 2020 right before the pandemic hit,” Dirty Monkey states. “We tried to make it as anthemic as possible, and it’s gotten a great crowd response every single time I’ve played it, so I’m very excited for it to be out!”

Says Sully: “Pat (Dirt Monkey) is an absolute beast of a producer, a great friend, and has been an influence for me over the years. King Kong came together SO quick. I remember passing the laptop and headphones back and forth every half hour until it was knocked out one afternoon before we played a show in Baton Rouge. The next day, we wrapped up the song in Luzcid’s kitchen in Houston and got to play out the full product at the Ayva Center for one of my last stops of the tour.”

Back in 2016, I had the chance to interview Florida based Patrick Megeath about his “Chroma” album, with songs like his remix of AFK and Carbin’s “Boss” featuring Cody Ray and “Level 8” with Conrank still a couple of wonky tunes to play.

Detroit native Chris Sullivant has previously impressed me tracks like his “Malfunction” EP, “Duck Hummus“, and “his “Brainstorm” EP over the past couple of years.
