Moontricks – Forest Of My Soul (Original Mix)

On April 4, 2022 by ocedm

If it seems like it’s been a while since Moontricks have put out a track, you would be correct. About two years, in fact. I first heard of the Canadian duo last year when I came across “Home” which features some amazing harmonica playing. Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for new music from the guys who call the Kootenay mountains of British Columbia in Western Canada home.

Nathan Gurley (producer) and Sean Rodman (songwriter and vocals) have broken their silence with a new single out now called “Forest Of My Soul”. The entrancing tune features “gritty banjo and guitar carry soulful vocals through deep synth drops and dark textures, reminiscent of one losing their way into a forested night.” The song was released by Vancouver based Westwood Recordings, which Nick Middleton of The Funk Hunters duo launched in 2013.

Rodman says that “‘Forest Of My Soul’ was written in the face of struggle and turbulent times. It’s about being lost and searching to find solace in the natural world outside of our own confines.”

“‘Forest Of My Soul’ holds true to our respect and reverence for the natural world and the inspiration we draw from it and our rural beginnings,” explains Gurley. “We’ve had the luxury of time over the last two years for reflecting and honing in our craft. The new music we’ve written holds a multitude of pieces we’ve gathered along the journey and put together in a mosaic of themes, emotions, and stories. This is our first release from this collection and time.”

Moontricks’ live performances are not to be missed, as they incorporate guitar, keys, banjo, and vocals at festivals such as Lightning In A Bottle, Rainbow Serpent, and Shambhala Music Festival.
