Above & Beyond – Screwdriver (Jono Grant’s Summer Of ’95 Mix)
Above & Beyond’s 2021 fan favorite “Screwdriver” has received a Summer Of ’95 Mix from one of its members in Jono Grant. The English DJ and producer switches it up from the trance/breaks fusion of the original to a fresh piano house version with tight percussion and vibrant melodies. The song was released on Above & Beyond’s London based Anjunabeats imprint.
The tune was selected by Above & Beyond as the Record Of The Week on Group Therapy 491. Supporters of the track include Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate, Shane 54, Farius, Nifra, and JES.
“It’s fair to say most Above & Beyond recordings exist in different forms before they finally reach the festival stage, as ambient beds, acoustic sessions or early groove sketches,” says Above & Beyond. “‘Screwdriver’ always made a statement in its supercharged breakbeat guise, but we could always hear echoes of a classic house idea in there as well. Jono’s mix brings this to the fore, giving the whole record a very UK summer feel.”
