Gabriel & Dresden – Bias (Original Mix)
Veterans of Above & Beyond’s iconic record label Anjunabeats, it has been two years since we’ve last heard from Gabriel & Dresden on the London based imprint. The duo from San Francisco make their way back on the record label with a modular synth heavy track titled “Bias”.
Gabriel & Dresden say “After spending the pandemic focused on #ClubQuarantine, we were itching to make music again. We decided to do something Josh had wanted to do for many years, build a modular synthesizer to inspire new kinds of creativity in the studio.
After spending months researching which modules to get, we settled on the relatively modest setup that would be our sound palette for making Bias. We were excited to take a more stripped-down approach to making music, as well as not being tied to a computer screen while making it.
When Josh first played the main acid lead, we had a shared excitement for it and immediately started recording an hour of knob tweaking. The result was recorded to six separate channels and then cut and layered in Ableton to create the final track.
Every single sound in Bias came from the modular rig. We hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did making it.”
In addition to playing the song numerous times on their Club Quarantine radio show, the duo ended their guest mix on Enhanced Sessions 672 with the track a few days ago. Above & Beyond supported the tune on the Anjunabeats Volume 16 compilation album and on Group Therapy 499, with Cosmic Gate selecting it as their Big Bang track on Wake Your Mind 442.
