Danny Goliger & Choopsie – Cycling EP
Danny Goliger and Choopsie have joined forces on a new breakbeat inspired EP titled “Cycling”. Also including “AF Rex”, the set from the Los Angeles based artist and Virginia native uses rumbling bass and chopped vocals combined with swirling arpeggios. The EP was released by Dirtybird, the record label launched by Claude VonStroke in 2005 with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
“Choopsie and I have been really inspired by the contrast between spacey ambient textures, with harder driving beats,” shares Danny Goliger. “This EP shows our love for those contrasts, with songs that are emotive and textural, while also maintaining a dark, bass-y edge. We cooked up these 2 tracks at my studio in LA, before Alex moved to Berlin. It’s a nice time capsule; and I’m very excited that it’s getting released with Dirtybird White Label.”
Choopsie adds “Danny and I made these 2 songs back at his studio in LA in 2022. We were experimenting with smooth, ambient textures and samples on top of heavier drums to really showcase the contrasts between the kinds of music we like. These are some of my favorite songs that Danny and I have made together and I’m really excited for them to be released on Dirtybird White Label.”
Danny Goliger played “Cycling” on the Dirtybird Campout 2022 Mix Series and Choopsie dropped it during her guest mix on Dirtybird Radio 359, with support from Stacey Pullen on Dirtybird Radio 379. Victoria Rawlins played “AF Rex” on Dirtybird Radio 371 (Best of 2022) as a A Taste Of 2023.
Producer, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist Danny Goliger has put out tunes like “Cause It’s You” with Minista, “Baking Brad” with Reginald, and “Fog” with Michael Fam.
