John Summit & Hayla – Where You Are (Extended Mix)

On March 9, 2023 by ocedm

Back in December, John Summit supported Kx5 (kaskade and deadmau5) during their first headline show together at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Chicago native closed out his set with another one of his captivating house tunes called “Where You Are” featuring the powerful vocals of Hayla from his label Off The Grid and Darkroom Records.

Summit says “When I first premiered ‘Where You Are’ at the LA Coliseum, I was absolutely stunned by the reaction it received and I knew right away this track would be something special. Every time I play it out it’s easily the most powerful track in my sets and I truly feel like it’s my best record to date.”

“This track encapsulates the feeling of longing,” shares Hayla. “When you’re alone at night tossing and turning wondering about the other person and if they’re alone, or with someone else, or missing you, unable to sleep too. Hoping that your bond is strong enough to pull you back together and wondering if they ever feel as good alone or with someone else as they do when they’re with you. The deep down feeling … I wanna be where you are.”

John Summit recently shared his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix where he played his new collaboration a well as “Summertime Chi” with Lee Foss and Hayley May, “What A Life” featuring Stevie Appleton, and his remix of “Escape” by Kx5 featuring Hayla.

Hayla, a native of Liverpool, has previously worked with Kx5 on “Escape”, Wilkinson on “I Need”, and Maxinne on “Running”.
