nilsix – Anhedonia (Original Mix)

On March 20, 2023 by ocedm

The first track in “Anhedonia” from Orjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma’s new project nilsix was premiered during their guest mix on A State Of Trance 1091 Amsterdam Dance Event Special last October. The Norwegian native and Dutch artist released their energetic and pummeling trance tune from Dreamstate Records, the Los Angeles based record label under Pasquale Rotella’s Insomniac Music Group.

Nilsen says “Both Mark and I had felt the strain of being locked up at home, struggling to find inspiration when the world was closed. But we both also knew that we wanted to collaborate when the world finally opened up again, like we had talked about for so many years. And we definitely found ourselves having fun in the studio again.”

“One of the things we missed most during the pandemic was collaborating,” shares Sixma. “After restrictions were lifted, we spent a full week together in the studio and began working on a lot of track ideas. We had so much fun that we decided to start a new project called nilsix and we’re super excited to release our debut single on Dreamstate! ‘Anhedonia’ was one of those tracks that just came together effortlessly. It’s inspired by old-school trance, but we brought our knowledge of how it should sound today and, voila, best of both worlds!”

Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, W&W, Andrew Rayel, Nifra, Super8 & Tab, and Luke Bond have all supported the song so far.

Kirkenes native Orjan Nilsen has played at festivals such as Tomorrowland in Belgium, Mysteryland in Amsterdam, A State Of Trance 850 in Australia, and Beyond Wonderland in Mexico.

Breda based Mark Sixma has performed at Creamfields in England, Grotesque Indoor Festival in the Netherlands, A State of Trance 900 in Spain, and Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
