Sultan + Shepard & Lane 8 – The Little Mushroom That Got Away (Original Mix)
For their first collaboration together, Sulta + Shepard have teamed up on a melodic progressive house tune called “The Little Mushroom That Got Away”. The guys use hypnotic melodies, shimmering synths, and a four on the floor beat in the track that was released by This Never Happened, the record label founded by Lane 8 in 2016.
“Daniel has been very involved in our music for the past four years, and thankfully everything we’ve done together has been extremely organic,” Sultan + Shepard say. “From the first demos we sent him of our music, to remixing each other’s songs, and now collaborating on original music- we never set out with an agenda in mind. It’s always been, “Hey what do you think about this?” or “I love this- maybe I can try something on it”. Nothing has been rushed or forced or too planned. One minute we were sending some rough ideas back and forth and the next minute, we were doing a collab. One of our favorite parts of working with him is the emphasis on exploring new territory, and using fresh ideas to spark creativity. We were all really excited about how this song turned out because it felt different to what either of us had done in the past, and yet it fit seamlessly into both our sets. Hope you all enjoy!”
Lane 8 dropped the song during his Spring 2023 Mixtape and at festival performances at CRSSD Festival Spring 2023 and Electric Forest, while Sultan + Shepard played it on their radio show Dialekt Radio 198. Oliver Heldens also supported the tune on Heldeep Radio 485 and Farius on Enhanced Sessions 721 .
Los Angeles based Ossama Al Sarraf and Ned Shepard, who originally met at a club in Montreal in 2002, have released tracks on labels like Armada Music, Toolroom Records, Black Hole Recordings, and Enhanced Recordings.
Denver based DJ and producer Daniel Goldstein has seen his songs on imprints such as Anjunabeats, Suara, Garuda, and Odd One Out.
