When I first heard the intro to juuku’s new song “Ripple” featuring the indie pop vocals of grandpa jules, I was not prepared for what came next. The experimental basslines and drum and bass elements combined with the heartfelt lyrics make this a standout track for both artists. The tune was put out on Dim Mak, the imprint started by Steve Aoki in Los Angeles in 1996.
“The label sent me a bunch of tracks to sift through, and I heard these insane grandpa jules vocals that resonated with me so much,” shares juuku. “For the past few years, I’ve felt I lost my light/happiness in the world, and I became so jaded in my day-to-day life—trying to chase something that I don’t even have a clear definition of. This song represents to me the need to let the ripples subside so I can clearly see what I’m here for.”
Steve Aoki recently supported the song on Aoki’s House 532.

grandpa jules is a multi instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter from Sweden who is now based in Sydney, Australia. She graduated from Musikmakarna University of Music this year and also released her debut track called “Mosquito Crowd” in February, followed by “Naked Trees” last month.
