dot – Begin Again EP
DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and engineer dot has revealed her latest EP called “Begin Again”. Based in Sun Valley, Idaho, the talented artist includes “Millenium”, “Stay Forever”, “So Good”, “The Search”, and “Begin Again” in the set. Classically trained in piano and voice, dot uses the great outdoors as her inspiration and it’s also where she feels most at home. Case in point: “So Good” was created in a yurt in the Sawtooth Mountains during the dead of winter after making the trek up the mountainside to ski and record. The collection was released on deadmau5’s record label mau5trap, which he started in 2007.
dot shares that “’Begin Again’ is a love letter to the producer I was 14 years ago: unjaded and full of more ideas than should reasonably belong in one artist project. It doesn’t neatly fit into many current genres or scenes right now, but seeing as I don’t live in London, New York, LA or another major city, it wouldn’t be authentic if it did. My biggest hope is that this music inspires any new artists to have the courage to create as themselves, for themselves. And if you feel like an outsider, go outside.”
dot recently had the guest mix on mau5trap radio 322, where she played a few songs from the EP. She has also played at major festivals and venues like EDC Las Vegas, Red Rocks, and HARD Summer.
Originally from Olympia, Washington, Kate Ellwanger moved to Orange County to attend the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music at Chapman University in Orange where she earned her B.A. in Music, then headed across the country to Berklee College of Music in Boston and earned her Master’s Degree in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation.
If being a DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and engineer doesn’t keep her busy enough, she is also a triathlete and ultra marathon runner who competed in the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Utah.
