David Penn x Vintage Culture x Raphaella – Just Stay The Night (Extended Mix)

On February 15, 2025 by ocedm

First appearing on Defected Records back in 2003, David Penn shows that he’s still got it going on in a collaboration with Vintage Culture and Rapahella called “Just Stay The Night”. The foot stomping tune serves as the first release of the year from the imprint, which features strong piano lines and rolling percussion combined with Rapahella’s alluring vocals. The single was released through the London based record label that was launched in 1999 by Simon Dunmore and is now ran by Wez Saunders.

David Penn says that “The decision to collaborate with Lukas (Vintage Culture) was an easy one! I sent him an idea; thankfully, he loved it, so it flowed from there. I was already working on another idea with the super-talented Raphaella, so we experimented with chopping up the vocals from that, and ‘Just Stay The Night’ was born. The track works great in my sets, and I’m so excited to get it out there for the world to enjoy now!”

“Working with David Penn and Raphaella was a real collaborative effort,” explains Vintage Culture. “David’s mastery of house music brought a classic energy to the track. Our work together produced something truly unique. Raphaella’s voice takes the track to another level—she added so much depth and emotion to the song. Together, we created something that feels fresh yet classic.”

Rapahella shares that “I wrote and produced the vocal topline one night in my studio in East London. David had sent me this amazing track. I remember the first thing I immediately just hummed was the opening line of the hook melody, and the lyrics just came out. I wanted to write a sultry club record, where you’ve just met someone new and don’t want to hide you’re into them. It was so much fun working with the amazing David Penn and Vintage Culture, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Supporters of the single include Oliver Heldens, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Mark Knight, Ferreck Dawn, Leftwing : Kody, Chicane, Danny Howard, Dennis Cartier, Hard Rock Sofa, Lowdown, Richard Vission, Sam Divine, Sofi Tukker, Sugarstarr, and TCTS.

Favorites of mine from Spanish artist David Peñin Montilla include “Dynamite” with ATFC, his remix of “Ultra Flava” by Heller & Farley Project, and “Hallelujah” with Kevin McKay.

Brazilian DJ and producer Lukas Ruiz will be playing at Coachella 2025, which takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio on two consecutive weekends: Friday April 11, Saturday April 12, and Sunday April 13; followed by Friday April 18, Saturday April 19, and Sunday April 20.
