Softest Chyl – Voice In My Head ft. Makayla Phillips (Cover)

Softest Chyl, the project between X based Softest Hard and Los Angeles based CHYL, have linked up with Makayla Phillips on a highly energetic track called “Voice In My Head”. Paying homage to Steve Aoki and Bassjackers’ 2024 track “Voices In My Head” featuring Teddy Bee, the ladies go the hard techno route with heart pounding basslines and crisp percussion blended with the the angelic vocals of Makayla Phillips. The song was put out on Los Angeles based Dim Mak, which Steve Aoki started in 1996.

Softest Hard, also known as Angel Pham, grew up in North Carolina and is now based in Los Angeles. She has previously performed at EDC Las Vegas, HARD Summer, Forbidden Kingdom, and Sunset Music Festival.

Born in China before moving to Canada, CHYL (whose real name is Ruochen Shi) graduated from Columbia University with a finance degree. She recently had her biggest headline show to date at The Observatory in Santa Ana a few weeks ago. The Los Angeles based artist will be resuming her Pretty Race Girl Tour (Part II) next month, with performances in cities like Boulder, Calgary, Detroit, Tempe, and Honolulu.

Makayla Phillips of Temecula appeared on season 13 of America’s Got Talent in 2018 at the age of 15 and received a golden buzzer from Heidi Klum, ultimately reaching the semi final round. Last year, she teamed up with Vertigo (the project of Aazar and Capozzi on “Hit My Heart” (and Version B of the song) from Confession.
