Cirque du Soleil – Montreal (Remix EP)
Guy Laliberté has gathered some of Montreal’s finest producers to remix seven classic Cirque du Soleil tracks from over the years. Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix founded Cirque du Soleil in 1984 which has since grown to become an entertainment company and contemporary circus producer with tours and residencies around the world. A large part of the experience is the music composed specifically for each show, in addition to the well known acrobatics, theater, dance, visual arts, and costumes.
The set, which ranges from organic house to progressive house to melodic house and techno, was released on Frooogs Records, which was started by Laliberté in June 2020.
Included in the compilation are a remix of “Cum Sancto Spiritu” from Totem by Guy Laliberte, a remix of “Temperatio” from Zaia by Hicky & Kalo, a remix of “Tzelma” by Soul of Zoo, a remix of “Hatahkinn” from Zaia by Hauy, a remix of “Fiesta Finale” from Luzia by Dexter Crowe, a remix of “Terre Aride” from O by Jares, and a remix of “Pambolero” from Luzia by Tyler W, Hauy, and Soul of Zoo.
Guy Laliberté will be playing a back to back set with Bedouin on Sunday September 14 at Chinois in Ibiza as part of the laters Saga residency, alongside Liva K and Notre Dame.
Hicky & Kalo, consisting of Camilo Jose Rivera Tamayo and Thomas Gaboury-Potvin, will be performing at Piknic Électronik on Sunday September 28 in Monreal on the Fizz Stage, along with John Digweed. Check out this video of them playing their version live!
Soul of Zoo, also known as Ben Eager, has previously worked with the likes of the Hans Zimmer Orchestra, Tina Guo, and Dominique Fils Aimé.
Hauy, whose real name is Cesar Hauy, will be playing at the four day Harvest Festival in Ontario on Friday September 12.
Dexter Crowe co-founded Halaken Records with Mercan Dede and has played at places like Stereo Montreal, PY1, and MTELUS.
Jares, also known as Mohamed Jarmak, has previously seen his songs on labels like Katermukke, Beatfreak, Deep Tales, and Steyoyoke. Check out this video of him playing his remix live!
Tyler W, whose real name is Tyler Williams, has had his tunes released on record labels such as Plaisirs Sonores Records, Phenomena, and Sounds Of Khemit.
