SG Lewis – Anemoia (Album)
I first heard SG Lewis’ “Feelings Gone” featuring London Grammar when it was released as a single for his new album last month and fell in love with it. I put the release date for his third album on my calendar, and I’m sure glad I did. The London native titled his album “Anemoia”, which means nostalgia for a time or a place one has never known. The captivating and entrancing collection was released through his record label Forever Days, which he started in February 2024, in collaboration with Positiva Records, which was launched in London in 1993.
“I have always felt connected musically to periods of time gone by – whether it be 70’s New York, 90’s Ibiza or the acid house explosion,” shares SG Lewis. “Times where music and culture have collided in ways so massive, it left the world changed forever. Like so many of us, I’ve always dreamt about what it might have been like to live through those times. Anemoia is the aural projection of that dream. The feelings of nostalgia I have for all these different times and places, boiled down into my fantasy sound track for a hypothetical dance floor. I want this album to accompany the moments of today, so that one day people might look back and feel Anemoia about what we experience right now.”
The album consists of “Memory”, “Feelings Gone” featuring London Grammar, “Sugar” featuring Shygirl, “Transition” featuring RAHH, and “Devotion” featuring TEED. Also included are”Past Life”, “Back Of My Mind”, “Another Place” featuring Frances, “Fallen Apart”, and “Baby Blue” featuring Oliver Sim.
Los Angeles based Samuel George Lewis will be bringing his Anemoia Live tour to the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Friday October 10 with Sofia Kourtesis. Regarding the tour, SG Lewis says that “It has been a minute since I have toured a live show, and time away from it has allowed me to think about the way I want to showcase the music on this album. I’m so excited to announce a live show tour, starting with the US. The show will be a completely brand new show, built from the ground up. These shows are going to be incredibly special, and I can’t wait to show you the world we are building around this album. I’m also so excited to have one of my favourite artists of the moment with us for a lot of the dates – Sofia Kourtesis.”
London Grammar, the English trio consisting of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman, and Dot Major, have been behind songs such as “Hey Now” (shout out to the Arty remix!), “Higher” with CamelPhat, “Help Me Lose My Mind” with Disclosure, and “Let You Know” with Flume.
Blane Muise, the real name of South London native Shygirl, has previously performed at Lightning in a Bottle, Desert Air, Boiler Room: Ibiza, and Glastonbury Festival.
Grammy nomainted artist TEED, also known as Oxford native Orlando Higginbottom, will be playing at John Summit’s inaugural Experts Only Festival on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21 at Randall’s Island in New York City.
Manchester native RAHH, whose real name is Holly Quin-Ankrah, has toured with and sang alongside the likes of Liam Gallagher, Miles Kane, Emeli Sande, Dave Stewart, Beverley Knight, Nile Rodgers, JP Cooper, and James Morrison.
