Modjo – Lady (Hear Me Tonight) (Oliver Heldens Rework)

On December 4, 2025 by ocedm

Back in 2000, French house duo Modjo (Romain Tranchart and Yann Destagnol) released “Lady (Hear Me Tonight)” which was from their 2001 self titled album. The iconic track features a sample of “Soup For One” by Chic (Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards), with the original and various remixes till being played in sets to this day (with one of my being Federico Scavo’s version).

If you’ve seen The Dutch DJ and producer live since the spring, chances are you’ve heard his rework at places like Peru, Argentina, Los Angeles, Belgium, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, and more. The vibrant and bouncy take was put out on Heldeep Records, which he launched in 2014 Amsterdam.

“For me personally, Lady is one of my favorite songs ever, and it’s one of the songs that got me in love with house and disco music as a kid,” the Rotterdam native shares. “I never dared to touch/remix “Lady,” though, until earlier this year. The intention and idea was not to reinvent the wheel, but to create a modern yet timeless and credible melodic summer club/house mix that is truly 100% in service to the original, and I’m pleased with the result. It’s been a highlight in my sets and it feels like it’s the type of mix that a wide range of DJs can play out.”

Supporters of the version include Diablo, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, Afrojack, W&W, R3hab, Lucas & Steve, Calvin Harris, Skytech, Mike Williams, Ferry Corsten, Blasterjaxx, Firebeatz, Sam Feldt, Bingo Players, Carl Cox, and Moguai.

Oliver Heldens has had quite a busy 2025, performing at major events such as Ultra Music Festival Miami, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, ÎleSoniq, the Indianapolis 500, and F1’s Dutch Grand Prix.
