deadmau5 – Science ft. Stevie Appleton (Original Mix)

Since last fall, deadmau5 has played his new collaboration with Stevie Appleton called “Science” at Creamfields in Chile, Escape: Psycho Circus, Paradiso in Peru, Ultra Music Festival in Argentina. The original mix clocks in at 9:45, and let me tell you the journey is definitely worth it. The atmospheric and heartfelt track with warm vocals was put out on mau5trap, which was started by deadmau5 in 2007.
As deadmau5 succinctly states, “Steve sent the vocal through, thought it was neat so I made a track with it.”
Stevie Appleton expands a bit, saying “I found there ended up being a nice simplicity in ‘Science.’ There was a lot more in the song before I cut it down to just four lines, each of which I feel like carry a certain feeling. Is it a dark energy, a loving one? It’s a bit of a mystery and I wanted to keep it that way. What deadmau5 has done with the production and the continuation of the songwriting is incredible. I’ve worked with a lot of big DJ/producers and gotten versions back of songs I’ve started on a piano, but this one was a different game. It should be a marker for the quality young producers are trying to achieve.
I’m excited for the world to hear what we’ve made, especially the full 9.30m length version, it takes you on a ride like a piece of cinema.”
Oliver Heldens, Armin van Buuren, Yotto, ALOK, Cosmic Gate, Bobina, Hausman, Nathassia, PARTS, Paul Arcane, Photographer, Pretty Pink, Richard Vission, SOFI TUKKER, Sultan + Shepard, Sydney Blu, and testpilot (an alias of deadmau5) have played the single.
Over the past year and change, deadmau5 has released tunes like “Ameonna”, his “Error5” EP, and “Jupiter”. As part of his Kx5 project with Kaskade, they will be playing at Ubbi Dubbi Festival in Dallas on Friday April 24 and at Veld Music Festival in Toronto on Saturday August 1.
The vocals of London based singer and songwriter Stevie Appleton have been heard on songs like “What A Life” with John Summit and GUZ, “Never Walk Alone” with BLOND:ISH, and “Happy People” with Eats Everything.
