Sting – Desert Rose ft. Cheb Mami (Reimagined – Remix EP from Bedouin, Zakes Bantwini, & Darque)
Back in January 2000, 17 time Grammy Award winning artist Sting released one of his most well known songs in “Desert Rose” featuring Algerian singer Cheb Mami. Twenty six years later, the British Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has revealed his “Desert Rose Reimagined” EP featuring versions from Bedouin, Zakes Bantwini, and Darque. The collection was released through A&M Records, a record label owned by Universal Music Group that was originally started in 1962.
Bedouin’s remix features their signature cinematic and spellbinding North African and Middle Eastern sound, while Zakes Bantwini delivers his rhythmic and hypnotizing Afro house take. Darque finishes off the EP with his intriguing and captivating Afro house version.

Miami based Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe of Bedouin will be playing at Coachella 2026, which takes place this weekend on Friday April 10, Saturday April 11, and Sunday April 12; followed by Friday April 17, Saturday April 18, and Sunday April 19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
South African Grammy Award winner Zakes Bantwini, also known as Zakhele Madida, has previously released on labels such as his own Mayonie Productions, MoBlack’s MoBlack Records, and GoldFish’s 33 Degrees.
Tracks from Molapo Malatji, also of South Africa, have been put out on his own Thru & Thru, Sondela Recordings under Defected Records, and Manu Naykene and Wesley Goschen’s Klub Record.
