Buunshin – Luminous Body (Original Mix)
Dutch DJ and producer Buunshin has a new intriguing bass tune out now called “Luminous Body”. Blending together elements of cinematic electronica and experimental bass, Ferry Mellegers also uses ethereal soundscapes along with rumbling basslines in his new song. The haunting single was put out through Cold Metal Club, which serves as the first track from his debut album set to be released later this year.
Buunshin shares that “‘Luminous Body’ is the first chapter of my upcoming album, a record where every song marks a defining moment in the evolution of its protagonist. This opening chapter represents their first encounter with illuminationism: the belief that life is a continual movement toward greater awareness, compassion, truth, and light. Rather than viewing light as something external, illuminationism treats it as an inner direction; a conscious choice to move closer to the highest version of oneself.
That philosophy is distilled into a single mantra repeated throughout the song: “Move your body to the light. Move your body through the light.” On the surface, the lyrics describe the hypnotic experience of a crowded club: a low ceiling, an overwhelming soundsystem, smoke-filled air, and flashing strobes reducing the outside world to a single moment. But beneath that physical setting lies a second meaning. As the body disappears into rhythm, the mind briefly escapes its habitual patterns, creating space to observe oneself from a higher perspective.
The title, “Luminous Body,” nods in part to Berserk, where the character Farnese experiences leaving her physical body behind. Here, that idea becomes symbolic rather than literal: a moment of stepping outside oneself, seeing life from a wider perspective, and choosing a direction instead of simply reacting to it. Musically, the record mirrors this duality. Euphoric melodies draw inspiration from the golden era of Dutch trance, treating light as something that can be heard as much as seen. Beneath them, immense, Brutalist-inspired basslines create a stark architectural weight, grounding the music in shadow before allowing it to ascend.
While much of dance music celebrates escape, “Luminous Body” proposes something different: that the dancefloor can also become a place of transformation. In surrendering completely to sound, movement becomes meditation, and the search for transcendence begins not somewhere beyond ourselves, but through the simple act of moving toward the light.”
Rotterdam based Buunshin will be performing at Let It Roll 2026, which takes place Thursday July 30, Friday July 31, and Saturday August 1 in Czech Republic.
