Michael Canitrot – Arcadia (Original Mix)
I first watched Michael Canitrot’s Liberty Lights performance a few weeks ago where he was the first electronic music artist ever to perform at the Statue of Liberty in New York City. The live performance was created to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty and the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
The show was part of his Monumental Tour, which “merges electronic music, cultural heritage, and visual technologies in artistic presentations set against the backdrop of iconic historical sites.” Previous performances have been held at the Eiffel Tower, Mont-Saint-Michel, during the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame de Paris, and at various monuments recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
One of the songs the French DJ and producer played during the performance was “Arcadia”, a melodic house and techno song with striking piano chords and cinematic strings. The uplifting and spellbinding tune was released through So Happy in Paris, the brand, event series, and radio show he started in 2000.
“’Arcadia’ is about hope, and there couldn’t have been a more symbolic place than the Statue of Liberty to share it with the world for the very first time,” shares the Seine-et-Marne native.
Going back into the OC EDM archives a bit, Michael Canitrot was part of a quintet called Reepublic that also included fellow Frenchmen Sebastien Benett, Antoine Clamaran, Tristan Garner, and Gregori Klosman.
